We had a gentle start the first week back at school with free play at 08:00 hours and snack time all together on the carpet.

Two new children joined our class Luca and Arès. Luca made his first appearance and Arès was happy to see familiar faces from last school year. The second week was back to normal, individual and group activities during the day and maximal 3 children at the snack table between 08:00 and 10:30 hours.

The preparations for the school’s exhibition about Maria Montessori were initiated. The children listened to stories about her and how different life was then compared to now. Past and present will be continuous themes this year. Two Wednesdays in January were reserved for parents meetings, this time for parents who were already with us last year. It is always a precious moment and very important to know if there are questions to answer, a concerns to take away or requiring on a specific topic. One issue was mentioned by several parents, namely water bottles still containing water at the end of the day. Some children drink very little water or not at all. This month the children listened with great interest to the facts about the body and the need and the benefits of drinking water. We are always happy with your feedback and please be aware that you are always welcome at the end of the day after 15:45 hours if you desire to talk with us.

Charly’s birthday was Monday 26th January. The children were all exited for him and found it special to celebrate at the real date! The celebration started with everyone around the carpet and the song with the months of the year. Then there was the round table in front of Charly with a small lit candle. Charly got the coloured globe and walked around the table 6 times, each round representing 1 year of age, whereas the candle symbolized the sun. Charly proudly distributed the birthday cake, made by himself together with his mum. Everyone waited until Charly sat down with his piece of cake, we thanked Charly and enjoyed his delicious treat. It has been a month with intermittently coughing and sneezing children and adults, being poorly and staying home or coming in.

If needed please hand us the medication and clear instructions for your child, since we have a first-aid kit, but no medication of any kind.
